EMRA 2024 Board Candidates

President-Elect

Harmanprit Randhawa, MD

Resident | Sutter Roseville Medical Center | Roseville, CA

I am immensely grateful to EMRA for the mentorship, leadership opportunities and clinical toolsets it has provided me over the past six years and hope to further its efforts for fellow residents and future physicians.

I joined the EMRA Leadership Academy as a medical student in April 2022. During my year in the academy, I met many inspirational physicians and learned from their triumphs and humbling patient encounters. I also spent time developing a capstone project to improve follow-up care and access to outpatient resources for patients. After graduating from the Leadership Academy, I started residency with the inaugural class at Sutter Roseville.

Throughout residency, I have had the privilege of serving as a liaison between residents and program leadership as the program evaluation committee representative and was recently elected to be our EMRA resident representative. Whether it be through my affiliations with EMRA or its wealth of resources, I have grown so much personally and professionally. Serving as president-elect would give me an opportunity to support my peers in their growth, expand outreach to medical students and serve as a voice for residents nationwide.

Louisa Weindruch, DO

Resident | Baylor University Medical Center | Dallas, TX

To my fellow EMRA members:

Like many of you, my passion for EM started as an ED scribe. I became a medical student during the height of COVID. I applied to residency during the 2023 Match. I've seen our speciality endure unprecedented times and still come out on top thanks to incredible advocacy. Each day, you advocate for your patients. I am running for President-Elect so that I can advocate for you.
I hope to prioritize issues that affect us on a daily basis, like physician mental health. I want to make our EDs better places to train by advocating for stronger residency requirements and raising awareness on issues like ED boarding and violence. I hope to maintain and expand EMRA's educational resources and grow leadership opportunities for members.

Organizational leadership is part of who I am. I've held positions with TCEP and ACOEP in addition to my roles within EMRA. My experience will help me connect with others and bring us together to achieve common goals.

Over the past 3 years, this community has made me a stronger leader and physician. As President, I hope to give back by working together to make our specialty better than ever.

Pauline Wiltz, MD

Resident | University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University | Cleveland, OH

I am excited to announce my candidacy for EMRA President-Elect. With a deep commitment to our organization and a vision for its future, I am eager to lead EMRA through the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Having served as Resident Councillor for Ohio ACEP, Chief Resident of my residency program in Cleveland, and as a current fellow of the EMRA Health Policy Academy, I understand the diverse needs and aspirations of our community at local, state and national level. My experience in leadership, advocacy, and grassroots organization makes me an ideal candidate for this opportunity. If selected as EMRA President-Elect, I will be contributing a desire to learn, a tenacious work ethic and motivation to effect change within our specialty.

I am dedicated to advancing our mission by focusing on three key areas: increasing member engagement through innovative initiatives, advocating for policies that support our professional growth, and ensuring effective and inclusive communication between leadership and members. Together, we can build a more dynamic and responsive organization.

Thank you for considering my candidacy. I look forward to working together to achieve our collective goals and to ensure EMRA remains a vibrant, diverse, and supportive community.

Vice Speaker

Ian Brodka, MD

Resident | University of Michigan | Ann Arbor, MI

EMRA is an organization of friends and colleagues that has been immensely important in my journey to and within Emergency Medicine. I've been involved in many aspects of this organization, including the Medical Student Council, the Specialty Committees, and Representative Council. Through these groups, a single collective voice and unified purpose emerges that makes EMRA the excellent resident organization that it is. Advocating on behalf of that voice is the inherent role of the Speakers, and why, from my experience in each, I feel uniquely ready and prepared to take on this role.

While pushing forward the needs and wants of residents and our patients on a policy level, it is also the role of the Speakers to support and educate about policymaking. Having a supportive guide through this often confusing realm is important, especially when our formal training often lacks this education.

As your friend, supporter, and ally, I hope you will allow me the honor to step into this role, to be with you and support you as we make Emergency Medicine the best it can be. For all that I have gained through this organization, I hope to give back this small piece of service in return.

Director of Leadership Development

Grace Bunemann, MD

Resident | Rush University Medical Center | Chicago, IL

I'm honored to be running for Director of Leadership Development. I knew early on that I wanted to be an emergency medicine physician. Leadership is synonymous with the role ofan EM physician and as such I have consistently sought out opportunities to become a better leader throughout each stage of my education.

I was exposed to EMRA and their resources in college and I set a goal of becoming involved once in medical school. EMRA became a large portion of my life during MS2 when I was selected to serve on the EMRA Medical Student Council (MSC). Serving in that role for two terms afforded me numerous opportunities as well as introduced me to fellow medical students whom I now consider my best friends.

As Director of Leadership Development, I aspire to give back to this organization as much as it's given to me. EMRA has supported and aided in my development as a young physician through my experiences with the MSC, Global Emergency Medicine Student Leadership Program, and Leadership Academy. Service to others is at the core of my identity, and being elected Director of Leadership Development will allow me to impact future EM leaders.

EMRA Rep to ACEP

Daniel Ayorinde, MD

Resident | Johns Hopkins Emergency Medicine Residency | Baltimore, MD

I am honored to submit my candidacy for the position of EMRA Representative to the ACEP Board of Directors. Over the past three years, I have had the privilege of serving in various leadership roles within EMRA, from Assistant Vice Chair to my current position as Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee. Operating within these roles has equipped me with a good understanding of EMRA's pillars and strategic goals, as well as the ability to advocate effectively for our members.

My academic and professional journey has been driven by a deep commitment to advancing emergency medicine. This dedication has led me to actively engage in state and federal advocacy on critical issues in EM. My experience has honed my skills in policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communication, which are essential for representing the resident voice at ACEP Board meetings.

I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to represent EMRA members at the ACEP Board and to further our shared goals of improving emergency medicine practice and patient care. Thank you for considering my application.

Kelsey Morgan, MD

Resident | UT Southwestern Medical Center |  Dallas, TX

When I joined EMRA in the beginning of 2020, I had no idea how much it would impact my life or my medical career. In the past four years, I have served on the Medical Student Council (MSC), the Board of Directors as MSC Chair, a Rep to the Coalition on Psychiatric Emergencies, and spoken at several conferences. I have made lifelong friends and EMRA has taught me more than I could've ever hoped for.

I am immensely honored to be considered for the EMRA Representative to the ACEP Board of Directors. This position is vital for our partnership with ACEP, as it gives us a seat at one of the top levels where decisions concerning our specialty are made. I truly believe the resident voice is crucial to the success of our field because we are the future of the specialty, and I plan to emphasize this goal by ensuring our concerns and plans are heard, respected, and have tangible results when discussed with ACEP.

I hope that you will allow me to continue giving back to EMRA what it has given to me and represent your voices as the next ACEP Representative.

I am a current PGY-2 resident at UCF North Florida, and I am excited to apply for the Director of Health Policy position. I am eager to contribute to shaping impactful health policies for our field at the national level.

I am particularly passionate about enhancing resident involvement in health policy and aim to make health policy less intimidating for residents to become involved in. Integrating residents into policy discussions enriches our advocacy efforts and prepares the next generation of leaders to address emergency medicine's ever-evolving needs.

In this role, I am committed to fostering active resident engagement in policy initiatives, developing strategic advocacy plans, and addressing the pressing issues within our field. My goal is to amplify the voices of emergency medicine residents and ensure their perspectives are integral to policy development.
