We're pleased to introduce Aadil Vora, DO, past-chair and current advisor to the EMRA Research Committee, 2020-2021.
Program: Emory University
Your goal as an EMRA leader: To continue to build Case-Con and other opportunities for our member to share academic work, learning from each other and bettering our practice.
Why serve as an EMRA leader?
Serving as an EMRA leader gives you the opportunity to find your purpose in the broad specialty of emergency medicine by meeting others with similar interests and then developing the leadership skills through trial and error doing projects. My time in EMRA leadership has given me the opportunity to make friends in my specialty who will lead emergency medicine someday, and their mentorship has been invaluable to me.
Top 3 traits of a great leader:
1. Fostering creativity
2. Protecting team spirit
3. Inspiring self-motivation
What is the best advice you've ever received?
"Show up." My program director told this to me and my class on my first day of residency. "Showing up" may mean stepping out of your comfort zone, but being present, being there for others and supporting causes you believe in will always lead to more opportunities and happiness.
