What is your goal as an EMRA Leader? My goal as an EMRA leader is to be creative in the way our committee explores various topics in Administration and Operations as it pertains to Emergency Medicine. Why get involved in a professional society? I had been a part of EMRA since medical school and wanted to expand the role I played in helping advance the field of Emergency Medicine. Last year, I had a great time in this committee meeting new people and hosting events! This year, I hope to further develop inter-committee events.

What is your goal as an EMRA leader? As the leader of EMRA’s Administration and Operations Committee, my goal is to prepare residents for the administrative and operational realities and challenges they'll face as attendings. I aim to provide them with the tools to understand patient flow, resource management, and hospital operations, so they can make informed decisions, improve departmental efficiency and navigate the administrative aspect of emergency medicine with confidence.

Why did you get involved in a professional society? I joined a professional society to broaden my understanding of the healthcare system and its many intersections within emergency medicine. Being part of this society gives me the chance to learn, collaborate, and influence change, especially in the areas of administration and operations. Through this committee, I want to expand my knowledge of how resource management, staffing, and financial decisions shape patient care in the ED. This experience will help prepare me and my peers for the challenges we’ll face as attendings, while also contributing to more efficient and effective practices in our field.

What is the best advice you have ever received? Regarding changing careers, that it is okay to take a leap of faith to pursue my dreams of practicing medicine.
