We're pleased to introduce Capt. Yev Maksimenko, MD, USAF, FAWM, chair of the EMRA Wilderness Committee, 2020-2021.
Program: Boston Medical Center
Your goal as an EMRA leader: To make wilderness medicine fun and easily accessible to any medical student, resident or fellow.
What is something people don't know about you?
My first job was McDonald's drive-through, even though I barely spoke English and didn't know what a hash brown was at that point of my life.
If I weren't an emergency physician, I would be: National Geographic explorer/photographer
Favorite life hack for night shifts:
Have an coffee/espresso machine in the break room. When trying to start a string of night shifts, have a normal day prior to your first night shift, and then power through the shift. Once home, have breakfast and go to sleep immediately after. This will reset your circadian rhythm.
