The holiday season is upon us! Bright lights! Festive decor! And a string of... overnight shifts?
As EM doctors, the holiday season can be a harsh reminder that our office is open 24/7 and perhaps the only jingle bells you hear are coming from monitor of that tachycardic patient in bed 3. While it can feel difficult to drag yourself to work on a Saturday night, especially when it seems like the rest of the world is filling themselves with holiday cheer, take a moment to remember what the holiday season is truly about...
Spend time with loved ones!
Try to make some time this month to celebrate with the people who make you most happy. It's the season to spend with loved ones, and be sure to let them know how grateful you are for their love and support.
Say thanks!
Don't forget to thank those people who support you every day, especially those at work. Nurses, techs, and other support staff do so much to make our day a little easier - a genuine thank-you is so appreciated, and often not said enough.
Give back!
As the winter season approaches, and you swap those sandals for snow boots, consider donating to those in need. Clean out your closet and give away those unwanted sweaters to a thrift shop or charity. And don't forget about our furry friends! Animal shelters will often take donations too, especially old blankets, pet food, etc.
Happy Holidays!
