TAKE-HOME POINTS

  • Ultrasound is another imaging modality that we can use in the Emergency Department, but it does not always necessarily mean that it will take us more time.
  • Be intentional with bedside POCUS.
  • If you are learning ultrasound, you can do retrospective studies to practice your skills and solidify your image recognition.
  • Patients usually enjoy POCUS and this can actually increase patient satisfaction.
  • The only way to get more comfortable with POCUS, is to DO POCUS!
