Tactical EMS Travel Scholarship
Purpose of Award
Mass casualty incidents, particularly mass shootings, are becoming increasingly common. Emergency medicine physicians-in-training need to have access to opportunities that will prepare them to be leaders in the tactical medical community. The purpose of this award is to help bridge a knowledge and training deficit present in many residency programs with respect to provision of medical care in the civilian tactical environment. This travel award will assist three EMRA members with travel expenses to attend tactical medicine training through a partnership with Mercyhealth in Janesville, Wisconsin.
Letter of intent explaining the financial need and purpose of attendance (no longer than 1 page) and indicating preference for either the Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) or Tactical Emergency Medical Services (TEMS) course; current CV; EMRA Awards Application form completed online.
EMRA Student, Resident, or Fellow member (International members included)
Up to 5 applicants will be chosen based on financial need and academic pursuit.
- TECC : 3 Awards
- TEMS : 2 Awards
$500 per award for travel expenses from EMRA. In addition, Mercyhealth will waive course tuition and cover local lodging of up to 2 days for the TECC course and up to 5 days for the TEMS course.
