EMRA | EDPMA Scholarship

Purpose of Award

The EMRA | EDPMA Scholarship is awarded to resident and fellow leaders. Recipients learn how to manage and handle business issues involved in running a successful emergency medicine practice.

Scholars also receive:

  • Opportunities to serve on a committee of the EDPMA,
  • Mentorship from EDPMA leaders, and
  • Attendance to the annual conference, the EDPMA Solutions Summit.

The recipients also receive action alerts and access to other resources and networking opportunities offered by the EDPMA.

EDPMA Committees include:

Federal Health Policy (FHPC)

The Federal Health Policy Committee guides the association’s response to proposed federal rules, regulations, bills and policies on the No Surprises Act, Surprise Medical Billing, Medicare, Medicaid and other relevant legislative and regulatory issues at the federal level. It coordinates federal advocacy efforts with other EDPMA committees and reviews, edits, and approves letters to Congress, CMS and other decision makers. It also collects people's experiences on the implementation of the No Surprises Act to guide EDPMA's federal advocacy positions.

Practice Management Committee (PMC)

The Practice Management Committee addresses issues including gathering data that supports EDPMA's advocacy efforts, legal compliance, provider enrollment, rural health, alternative payment models, telehealth and emerging ED technology, medical bad debt, financial management and more.

State Regulatory & Insurance (SRIC)

The State Regulatory & Insurance Committee identifies and develops EDPMA’s response to legislative and regulatory challenges at the state level, including limits on balance billing, Medicaid expansion, health exchanges, Medicaid copays and more. When appropriate, EDPMA takes action to advocate at the state level on these issues.

Quality, Coding & Documentation Committee (QCDC)

The Quality, Coding & Documentation Committee focuses on quality reporting under Medicare’s Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), coding issues including inappropriate prospective down coding by commercial and ERISA plans, documentation issues, preparing for audits, and more.

About EDPMA

The Emergency Department Practice Management Association (EDPMA) is a trade association that serves emergency department physician groups, billing and coding companies, and their business partners by providing them with advocacy, education, and networking opportunities. EDPMA’s members serve over half of the 141 million patients who visit the ED each year. The Solutions Summit is the premier conference for those who support emergency medicine providers by providing key business functions involved in the emergency medicine practices. Learn from educational sessions that help attendees better manage an ED practice group; study current views of federal and state policies impacting reimbursement; and work in a cohesive manner with other hospital-based physicians. It provides a great opportunity to hear from and network with leaders in the business of emergency medicine.
